I started last season’s victory post by proclaiming that we had probably just had the easiest Quizzypedia season ever. Well, as it turns out, this season was exactly as easy as the last one. More than 30 players reached a score of ten points or more. So there was little room for error for Qweeps aspiring to get their hands on the trophy. But as I have said so often before, an easy set makes for a fun set. You never know who is going to win until the very last day of the season. And several Qweeps directly commented that this had been a very good set of questions. So kudos to the Quizmaster John Larkin for a job well done. Any time you are up for making an new batch, just let me know. An easy set means a lot of perfect seasons, right? On day 12 that surely looked like it could be the case because 10 players still had a shot at getting all the questions right. However, a tricky Capital City question on day 13 meant that only four people were left standing before the final question.
John Robinson was a sole Englishman up against the three Belgians, David Beck, Kevin de Smet and Ronny Swiggers. John didn’t know the answer to the final question, so the trophy was almost certainly going to Belgium. But who would get it and would the three guys have to face off in a tie-break. As it turns out, they wouldn’t. Neither David nor Kevin knew the name of the YouTube video and since Ronny did, he is our new champion. Ronny has come very close to the championship a few times before, but this is actually his first trophy. I am happy to finally be able to put a star on Ronny’s chest and find a place for him in the Quizzypedia Hall of Fame! Please join me in giving him a big round of applause!
The answers to the final three days of the season are: _________________________
Day 12 of 14 Category: Ancient Middle Eastern History Which ancient King of Babylon first issued a legal code designed so that the punishment depended on the gravity of the crime? It is often summarised as "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth", though it seems unjust in many ways to modern people, such as if a building collapsed and killed the owner's son, the builder's son would then be killed as a punishment.
Day 13 of 14 Category: Capital Cities Of all the national capitals of countries in the world recognized by the United Nations, which one is the smallest by population? The country consists of 340 islands in the Pacific Ocean and the capital sits on the island of Babeldaob.
