With an average difficulty of 52, Season 125 hit the Goldilocks Zone of question sets. Not too difficult and not too easy, but just right. The four most difficult question of the season were placed on the four final days – exactly as they should be. Therefore, a big thank you should go to Jens Andersen for making a varied and perfectly balanced set of questions. I hope to see you return as quizmaster again some time.
No one managed to get a perfect season, but four players came very close. Bob Thompson, David Nadore, Hans Ewald Skov Hansen and Ronny Swiggers all finished on 13 points. Since we cannot have a season without a clear winner this of course meant a tie-break. This time the topic was one-word Best Picture Oscar winners. When all the special rules had been applied 25 answers would be accepted as being correct. And I was honestly amazed at how good the competing contestants were at naming these films. Ronny finished last after having named 12 films on the list – a performance that I would have thought would have earned him a better position. Hans came second to last with 15 correct answers. That left two players, Bob and David. Bob came up with an astonishing 19 correct answers and yet it wasn't quite enough to beat David who finished the season with twenty points. An awesome score in the truest sense of the word. To stay true to the theme of the tie-break, I have a one-word response for that... “WOW”! Please give it up for David who is our new champion. This is David's first championship, but I have a feeling it will not be his last.
