Season 103 - Day 9 of 14
Mammalogy
The name of this animal derives from a monster in Greek mythology.
Half-woman, half-snake, she was the mother of many other monsters, including Cerberus the three-headed dog, the Chimera, the Caucasian Eagle, the Nemean Lion and the Sphinx.
The animal in question is unusual in appearance, but far from horrifying! Otherwise known as a spiny-anteater, it is an egg-laying mammal native to Australia.
What is it?
