Kiril Lazarov is the top scorer in the history of EHF Champions League with more than 1300 goals scored. In 2009, he became the world record holder for most scored goals in a single handball tournament for national teams when he scored 92 goals in nine games in the World Championships - a record that still stands.
Lazarov played his first match for his national team in 1999 and has made 207 appearances in total, scoring 1,443 goals for the team (as of October 2020).
In 2015, the national team ended in 9th place in the world championships - their best placement ever.
