Season 121 - Day 5 of 14
This chemical element was discovered in 1898 solely by its radioactivity. The element, that is named after the home country of the scientist who discovered it is a very rare and highly radioactive metal with no stable isotopes.
Chemically the element is similar to selenium and tellurium, but its metallic character resembles that of its horizontal neighbours in the periodic table: thallium, lead and bismuth. Because of its high radioactivity and radioactive self-heating its chemistry has been investigated at the trace scales only.
Name this element which was first isolated by German chemist Willy Marckwald in 1902.
