Astronomy

Alpha Ursae Minoris is the brightest star of the constellation Ursa Minor and is actually a triple star system.
The commonly used name for this star is derived from a role it inherited from Kochab, the brightest star in the bowl of the Little Dipper asterism. This role will centuries from now pass on to the binary star system known as Gamma Cephei.
