This soil group of the World Reference Base for Soil Resources is a black-colored soil containing a high percentage of humus and high percentages of phosphoric acids, phosphorus, and ammonia.
This type of highly fertile soil is only found in specific parts of the world, among those are Ukraine and Russia.
The term is a portmanteau of the Russian word for black and soil.
