Season 159 - Day 7 of 14

World War II

What was the name of the line of concrete fortifications, obstacles, and weapon installations built by France in the 1930s to deter a possible German invasion?
Instead, in 1940, the German troops went around the fortifications through a wilderness area in Belgium that the French assumed to be impenetrable.
The name of the line has since become a metaphor for expensive efforts that offer a false sense of security.
