Film Directors
This French illusionist (1861-1938) led many technical and narrative developments at the dawn of cinema.
He was one of the first directors to use storyboards and he popularized techniques such as time-lapse photography, dissolves and hand-painted color on the individual images on the filmstrip.
His short films A Trip to the Moon (1902) and The Impossible Voyage (1904) are regarded by film scholars as some of the most important examples of early cinema.
