Season 108 - Day 8 of 14

Swimming

The men's 200 metre freestyle event at the 2004 Summer Olympics was billed as “The Race of the Century” or the "greatest swimming race of all-time", as it featured four of the fastest swimmers in Olympic history.
Three of them were the defending Olympic champion Pieter van den Hoogenband from The Netherlands, former world record holder of the event Grant Hackett representing Australia and Michael Phelps of the United States who later became the most decorated all-time Olympian, with a total of 28 medals.
Which Australian swimmer who was the world record holder in the event at the time became the eventual winner of this race?
