Season 120 - Day 11 of 14

Athletics

28 years after the first women was allowed to enter Olympic events, in which year were women first allowed to compete in athletics events at the Olympic Games?
After the 800 metres race, some press reports of the event claimed that many of the competitors were exhausted or failed to finish the race.
This prompted the IOC to drop it from the Olympic programme and as a result no women's running event longer than 200 metres was to be allowed in the games for 32 years.
