Philosophy

In classic philosophy, what is the term for a statement that is so evident or well-established, that it is accepted without controversy or question?
The term is also used within the field of mathematics where it is split into two groups: the logical group and non-logical.group.
The word comes from a Greek word that means ”that which commends itself as evident”.
