This geometrical object was created the Swedish graphic artist Oscar Reutersvärd in 1937.
It is a two-dimensional depiction of a staircase in which the stairs make four 90-degree turns as they ascend.
The stairs form a continuous loop which makes it appear as if it would be possible to continuously climb the steps without ever getting any higher.
What is the common name for this impossible staircase?
