National Anthems

The Canadian national anthem was originally commissioned by Lieutenant Governor of Quebec Théodore Robitaille for the 1880 Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day ceremony.
Calixa Lavallée composed the music, and the lyrics were written by the poet Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier.
The original French version was translated into English in 1906.
