This American businessman (1847-1931) is with 1,093 US patents in his name regarded as the most prolific inventor in American history.
Among the many inventions associated with his name are the phonograph – an early version of the gramophone, the Kinetograph – a precursor to the movie camera and, early versions of the electric light bulb.
In 1892, he founded General Electric which to this day is one of the largest publicly traded companies in the world.
