This ancient Roman poet of the Augustan period composed three of the most famous poems in Latin literature: the Eclogues, the Georgics, and the epic poem Aeneid.
The poet’s works had significant influence on Western literature, and he even appears as the author’s guide through Helle and Purgatory in Dante’s Divine Comedy.
