Season 160 - Day 12 of 14

Philosophy

This philosophical paradox in the conception of free will refers to a hypothetical situation wherein a donkey that is equally hungry and thirsty is placed precisely midway between a stack of hay and a bucket of water.
In the paradox it is assumed that the ass will always go to whichever is closer, but since they are equally close, the donkey cannot make up its mind and dies from hunger and thirst.
The paradox is named after a 14-century French philosopher – what is it called?
