Golf
What term is used in golf for a starting format in which all participants begin simultaneously from different holes, rather than teeing off sequentially from the first hole?
The name derives from a May 1956 tournament in Washington where the club pro literally fired a weapon into the air to signal the synchronized commencement of play.
