Musical instruments
Developed as a byproduct of Soviet state-sponsored espionage research into proximity sensors, this instrument relies on two metal antennas to detect the relative position of the performer's hands without physical contact.
Originally patented in the United States in 1928, its distinctive, gliding pitch was later utilized by sound designer Robert Moog to revolutionize commercial analog synthesis.
