Season 115 - Clash of Countries

Updated: Jan 30, 2021

14 teams have are competing in Clash of Countries this season... so far. And I have shocking news! No, not that shocking... Denmark is in front as usual, but... after many season Belgium has finally succeeded in pushing England down to third place. How will the English feel about that and just as importantly, what will the Belgians do to secure their position. A lot depends on how many qweeps come out of the woodwork after last call tomorrow. There are a lot of easy points to be had on the first three days of the season. Team Quizzers Points

Denmark 14 25 Belgium 8 15 England 10 15 Sri Lanka 6 10 India 2 4 Norway 2 3 Australia 1 2 France 1 2 Wales 1 2 Germany 1 1 Scotland 1 1 Serbia 1 1 USA 1 1 Japan 2 1

Day 3 Update

Three extra teams joined since yesterday, Bulgaria, Philipines and Romania. Denmark is still in the lead, but Belgium is no longer in second place, nor are they in third place. England came back with a vengance and they are now right after Denmark. Sri Lanka is in third place – probably boosted by Indika’s victory last season. However, the battle for second place is still tight, especially since India in fifth place cannot be counted out of the race either. And the season is still young, so there is still plenty of time for the teams to recruit extra players. Team Quizzers Points

Denmark 16 (+2) 43 (+18) England 12 (+2) 31 (+16) Sri Lanka 8 (+2) 26 (+16) Belgium 9 (+1) 26 (+11) India 7 (+5) 19 (+15) Australia 2 (+1) 6 (+4) Norway 2 6 (+3) Scotland 2 (1+) 5 (+4) Serbia 2 (+1) 4 (+3) Bulgaria 1 (+1) 3 France 1 3 (+1) Germany 1 3 (+2) Philipines 1 (1+) 3 Romania 1 (+1) 3 Wales 1 3 (+1) Japan 2 3 (+2) USA 1 2 (+1)

Day 7 Update

Denmark has a gigantic lead of 41 points down to England in second place. It looks like it is almost possible to call the season even if we are only at the midway point. Denmark has five players more than England on the team and for the first time ever, the average score of the Danish players is also better than that of their biggest rivals.

England has a comfortable 10 point lead down to Belgium in third place, but the Lankans are breating down the necks of the Belgians as they are only four points behind. And with nine players each, this is where the real contest should be found. Team Quizzers Points

Denmark 17 (+1) 104 (+61) England 12 63 (+32) Belgium 9 53 (+27) Sri Lanka 9 (+1) 49 (+23) India 7 26 (+7) Australia 3 (+1) 16 (+10) Norway 2 12 (+6) Scotland 2 10 (+6) Serbia 2 8 (+4) France 1 6 (+3) Japan 2 6 (+3) Germany 1 5 (+2) USA 1 4 (+2) Philipines 2 (1+) 4 (+1) Bulgaria 1 3 Romania 1 3 Wales 1 3

Day 12 Update

But... but... but... Day 13 is almost over??? Yes, I know... Life happened. But the updated scores are only counted until Day 12, so technically this is a Day 12 update coming on Day 13. In any event, I apologize for the delay. 😊 Denmark still has a gigantic lead of 41 points just as it was on day 7. England in second place and it doesn’t look like it is mathematically possible for them to overtake Denmark... that is unless they somehow get 100 players to join. The gap to Belgium in third place is almost as big – 35 points. And their gap of 17 points to Sri Lanka in fourth place looks almost equally insurmountable. In fact, when looking at the scoreboard it is quite difficult to zoom in on any interesting fights within the fight. Norway and Scotland with 15 points each on a joint 7th place is probably what comes closest.
