Season 115 - WE HAVE A NEW CHAMPION !!!

I must say that I thought our quizmaster this season, Bob Thompson, had a stroke of genius when he came up with the idea of building an entire season of questions around the album cover of Sergent Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. But one thing is having a good idea in theory, another is to actually pull it off. And I have to hand it to you, Bob. You definitely pulled it off. The season was well balanced when it came to topics and difficulty. The average difficulty hit 53, which is a little on the easy side, but only marginally so. And all you qweeps seemed to have fun too. Most of you kept on answering until the very last day. Sometimes, when a season becomes too hard, a lot of people stop participating in week two. This was certainly not the case this time. Therefore... I tip my hat to you, Bob. Thank you for a great season! So who actually came out on top? Well, we had three perfec runs this seasons and as it turns out they all came from bonnie old England. Bob Douglas, Duncan McDonald and Kathryn Hutchinson all managed to go through the entire season without a single misstep and you all know what that means. Tie-break time! This time the topic was names of popes from 1053 and onwards. There were twentynine papal names to choose from, but who knows Pope Stephen? Well Kathy and Duncan did. Who knows pope Sixtus? Bob and Kathy did. Let me just say... you guys know your popes! But at the end of the day, the final score was as follows. Bob ended with a more than respectable 14 points. Kathy outdid Bob by four and ended on 18 points, but Duncan squeezed out one more pope (eh, that came out wrong) and ended on 19 points. That means that Duncan by a hair’s breadth is our new champion. This is Duncan’s sixth championship – please give him a big round of applause!
